What I Like About You

What I Like About You is a tag created by Roxy of Keeping Up With Roxy’s Books that answers some questions about other bloggers to help spread the blogger love. Everybody can do it. Just answer the following questions!

  1. Name the blogger who first left a comment on your blog. I started my blog so long ago that my first comments just came from friends and family members. None of them had blogs yet. I was the first out of the group.
  2. Name a blogger who has the cutest button. I don’t really keep track of buttons. I don’t like to clutter my sidebar with them so I never pay attention to them.
  3. Name the blogger who blogs about a lot of things other than books. Brodi Ashton blogs about the struggle she had with getting published, the joys of getting a book deal, and many more things. Her blog is a ton of fun to read because she presents things in such a unique and hilarious way. I highly recommend her blog (and book Everneath) to everyone!
  4. Name the most creative blog. Brush Up On Your Reading is such a creative blog. I love that Nina and her pet monster ARGH talk about books. They often have different opinions and talk about why they think the way they do. It makes for a really fun discussion.
  5. Name the blogger with the prettiest blog design. I really like Emily’s Reading Room. Her design is modern and fun, yet simple and clean. I’m all about uncluttered blogs. The more cluttered a blog is, the less likely I am to frequent it because it’s hard to read and takes forever to load.

I tag anyone who wants to do this! Let’s spread the blogger love!

Liebster Blog Award

Yesterday, I received a comment from Jennifer at Books & Barks telling me that I’d be very interested in the post she had just published. I was intrigued and not disappointed when I found out the reason for her enthusiasm. She has been generous to nominate me for the Liebster Blog Award. Thank you so much, Jennifer! I really appreciate your thoughtfulness! You made my day when I read your nomination!

The Liebster Blog Award is designed to bring additional recognition to those bloggers with less than 200 followers. If you receive the award, you should link back to the blogger that nominated you and nominate five more blogs. Also, don’t forget to let them know that you nominated them.

My Nominations

  1. Jenny from Alternate Readality
  2. Laura from The Shabby Rabbit
  3. Ashley and Alysa from Everead
  4. Sarah from Writer, Reader, Dreamer
  5. Lari from Lari is Writing

Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award

Nina at Brush Up On Your Reading gave me the Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award.  Thank you, Nina! You’re the best! :D If you hadn’t given me this award, I would’ve given it to you!

This award has four requirements:

  1. Thank the person who gave you the award and list his/her blog (with a link).
  2. List four of your guilty pleasures.
  3. Pass on the award to six other bloggers you think are irresistibly sweet.
  4. Notify the bloggers you choose for the award and hopefully they’ll join in.

I’m glad this award is more specific about the things I can write about myself.  I’m running out of things to say that I haven’t already said before. ;) Anyway, here are four of my guilty pleasures.

  1. Games. Any type of game–video, computer, board, paper, head, made up, etc. I’m obsessed with games and I’ll use them to avoid responsibility, which has been a problem in the past.  Hence, the reason it’s a guilty pleasure.
  2. Reading. I love to read. The reason it falls under guilty pleasure is that, just like games, I’ll use reading to avoid responsibility. But, I feel a little better about reading than playing games because when I was little and bored, my mom always told me to do something constructive, which reading fell under (according to her) and games didn’t. Also, I don’t always read to avoid responsibility.
  3. Ice cream. Pink bubble gum ice cream from Baskin Robbins is my absolute favorite ice cream. I’ll eat it in any kind of weather, even if it’s 50 below zero.
  4. Twinkies. I love Twinkies, even though they’re probably one of the worst things I can eat. I love their taste and their moist fluffiness.  I also love Tiger Tails, which are Twinkies with raspberry drizzle and coconut on top.

I pass the Irresistibly Sweet Blogger Award onto the following blogs (not all of them are book blogs):

  1. Alison Can Read: She’s always so sweet to me on Twitter, my blog, and even her blog. I also love her posts! They’re always so thought provoking.
  2. Book Purring: She’s sweet enough to comment in Spanish so I can hone my Spanish-speaking … writing … skills. Plus, she’s a cat lover!
  3. The Campbells: I love these two! They have made working infinitely better and I love hanging out with them. I also love all of Courtney’s cute posts; they’re so much fun to read.
  4. The Eager Readers: If you’ve ever met Violet in person, you’ll know she is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet!
  5. Manga Maniac Cafe: She has the best posts on her blog! And, she’s always so sweet to reply to my comments.
  6. Maw Books: She has to be as sweet as she is.  Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to do all the networking she does between authors, bloggers, and readers. She’s the first book blog I came in contact with and it’s thanks to her, I decided to make my blog more exclusive to books.

Stylish Blogger Award

Kacie at Aussie Book Shack gave me the Stylish Blogger Award. Thank you, Kacie! That was very kind of you. :D

This award has four requirements:

  1. Thank the person who gave you the award and list his/her blog (with a link).
  2. List seven things about yourself.
  3. Pass on the award to 15 recently discovered great blogs.
  4. Notify the bloggers you choose for the award and hopefully they’ll join in.

I’m going to attempt to write seven things about me that I haven’t written on my blog before. 8O

  1. When I’m not worrying about eating healthy, my all-time favorite sandwich is a grilled cheese with a lot of cheese and extra butter to make it extra crispy.  Zupa’s Ultimate Grilled Cheese sandwich is to die for, especially when it’s coupled with their tomato basil soup!
  2. I love eggs, but I’ll only eat them when they’re prepared a certain way.  I like them scrambled, but I have to scramble them because I don’t add milk to them and I scramble them a with a very special technique that makes them extremely delicious.  I also love them deviled, as long as they’re made with Miracle Whip not mayonnaise.  And, I’ll eat them hard-boiled if they’re on salads.
  3. I used to watch the Powerpuff Girls and Dexter’s Lab when they were on Cartoon Network.  Bubbles is my favorite powerpuff girl because she and I are one in the same (other than the superpowers thing).
  4. When Voltron was syndicated on Cartoon Network, I watched every episode because it was my favorite cartoon as a child.  I was severely disappointed in how cheesy and stupid it was.  I don’t remember it being that bad and cartoons nowadays aren’t that cheesy or stupid.  Was my generation too naive and dumb to notice? Or, was that the phase for cartoons in the 80s?
  5. I’d much rather text someone than talk on the phone.  I hate talking on the phone.  I didn’t always feel like that; it wasn’t until I spent three years as a support tech that talking on the phone became such a loathsome activity.
  6. I want an ocelot. (To be honest, I want one of every animal in the world, except spiders or poisonous snakes or anything poisonous for that matter.)
  7. I love making checklists.  It’s actually doing the things on the checklist that’s the problem. ;)

I pass the Stylish Blogger Award on to the following blogs:

  1. Alison Can Read
  2. Blkosiner’s Book Blog
  3. Book Purring
  4. Cafe of Dreams ~ Book Reviews
  5. The Delusional Diaries

  7. Icey Books
  8. Late Bloomer Online
  9. Library Mosaic
  10. Manga Maniac Cafe
  11. Moonlight Gleam’s Bookshelf
  12. My Bookish Ways
  13. My Head is Full of Books
  14. Preternatural Primer

I thought this sounded like a fun idea!  Froggarita is hosting it over on her blog in lieu of the Friday’s Fab Five post today.  Answer the following questions with a book you’ve read.  Try not to use the same book twice:

  3. Describe where you currently live: City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare (one of our city’s historical buildings caught on fire last night)
  4. If you could go anywhere, where would you go? Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
  5. Your favorite form of transportation: My Father’s Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett
  6. Your best friend is: Kimberly by Jack Weyland (one of them, anyway)
  7. You and your friends are: Matched by Ally Condie
  8. What’s the weather like? Sunshine by Robin McKinley (that doesn’t mean it’s not cold, though)
  9. Favorite time of day? Night by Elie Wiesel (I didn’t use the obvious one there, did I? Ha!)
  10. What is life to you? Cirque du Freak: A Living Nightmare by Darren Shan (sometimes, anyway)
  11. Your fear: Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak
  12. What is the best advice you have to give? You Are Special by Max Lucado
  13. Thought for the day: Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson M.D.
  14. How you would like to die: The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman
  15. Your soul’s present condition: Post Mortem by Patricia Cornwell (after the semester I’ve had)
