I’ve been sick since Friday. It steadily got worse over the weekend. I’m feeling a bit better today, but not by much. Hopefully, I’ll feel much better tomorrow because I have to return to work whether I’m well or not.

Anyway, while I’ve been sick, I’ve become addicted to an app on my phone. It’s called Draw Something. It’s like Pictionary, but you can play multiple games at a time and you only play with one person. You take turns drawing and guessing each other’s pictures. If you guess correctly, then you each earn coins that allow you to buy new colors or bombs that help you when your stuck while guessing.

It’s kind of interesting to see the different types of people who play. There are those, like me, that like to take their time drawing and go into a lot of detail with the pictures. Then, there are those that just want to get the picture done with as soon as possible and get on to the next round or next game. Personally, I like watching my opponents draw and put all the detail into their pictures. I think that’s where most of the fun comes in.

Anyway, I thought I’d share some of my favorite pictures that I’ve drawn so far. It’s much harder to draw than it looks because without a stylus, you can’t always see where your finger’s going.

My friend Tyler forwarded me an email with a survey being conducted by a student for their senior thesis project in linguistics. I thought I’d share it on my blog to help this student out and because I thought it was kind of fun to take.

It’s a very short questionnaire. First, it gathers some demographic information so it can choose which questions to ask you. Second, it will ask you five short survey questions about linguistics. The survey takes only 3-4 minutes.

Survey requirements

• You can only take it once.
• You must be 18 years or older. (Please don’t take it if you’re not at least 18. I don’t want her data to be skewed.)
• You don’t need a background in linguistics or grammar.
• You should understand English, but you don’t need to be a native English speaker.

This video is so true to life with a cat and tape. It’s why it’s so fun to put a piece of tape on all four paws at the same time.

I was looking up “The Force” Volkswagen commercial to watch it yet again and I came across this one with deleted scenes and bloopers.  I thought it was cute and it makes me appreciate the finished product even more.

I first saw this commercial last Wednesday.  One of my Twitter friends posted something about it.  The minute I saw it, I fell in love.  Not only is it about Volkswagen, it also incorporates two of my favorite things: Star Wars and John Williams.  With that being said, the main reason I love this commercial is because of my friends’ little boy Jack.

Jack is six years old and he’s obsessed with Star Wars.  I mean he really loves Star Wars!  If he could be a Jedi, it would be the best thing in the world to him.  In fact, he’s expressed interest in becoming a youngling.  Anyway, when Jack was first introduced to Star Wars, Ali would tell me about all the Star Wars related things Jack did and one of the more amusing ones had to do with the Force.  Jack tried and tried to get the Force to work for him.  When he couldn’t get it, he said things like, “I can’t get the Force to work. I need to practice more.” No matter how much Ali or Tyler tried to convince him that the Force isn’t real, he just couldn’t/wouldn’t believe it.

When I saw this commercial, it reminded me of him.  And, as many of you know, Jack is one of my most favorite little boys in the whole world so anything that reminds me of him is awesome in my book.  Enjoy!

PS–This is the same commercial that aired during the Super Bowl, or so I’ve been told since I didn’t actually watch the Super Bowl.

This is the reason Corey and I have only put up a Christmas tree once the entire time we’ve been married.  I’m sure now that our cats are grown, they wouldn’t be as naughty.  But, you never know, especially with Dax, the perpetual kitten.  I guess we’ll find out next year.
