New Hairdo

I’ve had my hair short for two and a half years now.  About a year ago, I decided to start growing it out even though I didn’t really start the growing-out process until around January.  It’s been and continues to be a long process.

I’ve grown my hair out before so I know I usually get to a point when I want to chop it all off because it becomes so annoying.  I’ve been at this point for the last couple of months.  I feel like my hair’s always so bushy, shaggy, and almost mullet-ish. I was going to chop it all off today when my niece Carlee and I discovered my hair was just long enough to start shaping it in an A-line-wedge style.

I really like the style a lot.  I just hope I can keep up with it since I think styling hair is so monotonous!

A Busy Day

On Friday, I realized (or remembered) that my driver’s license expired on my birthday this year. … My birthday was three weeks ago. Luckily, I haven’t driven all that often since my birthday.  I’ve had one decent driver’s license picture–my very first one.  My last two were horrid because my hair was always in a bad cut or whatever.  I wanted to try to avoid that this time around so I got my hair done yesterday.

I haven’t colored my hair since my niece Carlee left for England because I didn’t have anyone else to do it and I couldn’t afford it either.  I decided to grow my hair out with my natural color.  I still want to grow my hair out, but I love coloring my hair because it gives it so much more depth.  Since Carlee’s back and I get a phenomenal rate again, I decided to color it even while I’m growing it out.  Carlee also shaped it since it had lost its shape and spiking ability about four weeks ago.  I’m pleased with the style and color, but I don’t think it’ll ever look as good as Carlee did it again.  But, isn’t that the way it always is? Hopefully, my driver’s license picture will still turn out okay.

I also spent most of the day reading City of Glass and I finally finished it around 9:00 pm.  I’m so glad I finished it because I needed to know what happened and I needed the stories to release me from their spell so I could sleep and have a normal life again.

Corey also took me to see the new Star Trek movie.  The movie was phenomenal! Matt, one of my co-workers, had changed his Facebook status to: “Dear George Lucas: that’s how it’s done” after he saw the movie.  I chuckled when I read it.  But, after seeing the movie, I completely understand where he’s coming from.  The actors were fantastic.  They had the same mannerisms as their counterparts in the original series and movies.  And, they even looked like younger versions of them.  The storyline was great too and there weren’t any continuity issues like a lot of prequels end up creating!  I’m so glad we saw it last night and would love to see it a second time.

I’ll Miss You, Carlee

My niece Carlee took a job as a hair dresser on a cruise ship.  Her training takes place in London anywhere from three weeks to three months.  She moves on November 8th.  Then, she’ll be working on the cruise ship for nine months. I may not see her for the next year or so.

I have mixed feelings about her taking this job.  I’m super excited for her and I think it’s a great opportunity, but who’s going to dye and cut my hair for only $20 for the next year? Unfortunately, no one.

I had her cut and dye my hair one last time yesterday.  She dyed it a little darker than my natural color, but it will fade and hopefully create a smooth transition as it grows out.  I guess the good thing is that since I have such short hair, it’ll only look weird for a little bit because the colored ends will just get cut off.

A Pick-Me-Up

As you’ve read in a couple of my previous posts (Family Drama and Mina Schwartz Peterson), this week has been hard to say the least.  I needed a pick-me-up, so I had my niece Carlee cut and dye my hair.  I was going to dye my hair black, but I decided not to this time around.  Honestly, I couldn’t decide which color to dye my hair, so I told Carlee to surprise me! Here are the results:

I love the color!  It’s similar to the last color I dyed it, but it’s a little brighter and there are some blond highlights in it too!

My New Do

My New Do - RedI got my hair done again yesterday. Getting my hair done is a common occurrence since I have it done at least once a month. Because my hair is so short, I have to get it done often.  Otherwise, my style grows out and just looks shaggy. As I said in the post Just Call Me Hellraiser back in March, I usually have my niece Carlee color my hair a different color each time just for the heck of it. It’s so much fun to do and this time around, I chose red!

Since I cut my hair a little over a year ago, I’ve dyed it dark brown, medium brown, a brownish-red, blond, and red. And, sometimes, I get highlights. One of these times, I’m going to dye it black because I’ve never had black hair and I want to see what it looks like.

Because I change my hair color all the time, I want to know which color people think looks best on me. I personally like the red and blond the best, which is ironic since Corey hates red and blond hair.
