All I Want for Christmas is to Close

Corey and I are still at my parents’ house. 8O We talked to our loan officer on Monday and he said we’re just waiting for the paperwork to be completed and then we can close.  He said it should be no later than Thursday.  I’m really trying to be optimistic, but I can’t help feeling like “I’ve heard that before.”

The sellers are getting very antsy since our stuff’s already in the townhome. :? We’ve told them we’d pay them “rent” for those days that our stuff’s there before we close.  It’s about $23/day, which isn’t too bad.  But, we’d rather not have to pay it.

Needless to say, we’re doing a lot of praying right now to help things happen as quickly as possible. Hopefully, I’ll have good news later today or tomorrow.

  1. I just don’t understand why the paperwork is taking so long. When we closed, we did our paperwork on the same day that the money was transferred. Sounds like you have lazy loan officers. You need to put the fear into them. Then things might go faster.

  2. They said that it has to do with the interested rate being at an all-time low. All the banks are inundated with work because people are trying to refinance while the interest rate is so low.

They also said it’d take 4-5 business days to get the paperwork done from the time our loan was approved. Our loan was approved last Thursday, so 4-5 business days is today or tomorrow. So, technically, they’re within the time frame they told us. They just said they were going to do everything in their power to get it done by last Friday or Monday. Obviously, that didn’t happen. Now, we’re just hoping for “on time.”
