Jen and Randy, my sister- and brother-in-law, welcomed their first baby into their family last night at 8:02 pm. Their little girl weighed 4 lbs. 5 oz. and was 18.5 in. long. Her name is Addison Rae Morris.

If you look at the picture of Randy’s wrist, you’ll notice that Addison’s waist is only as big as his wrist. Addison’s so small because Jen’s placenta calcified during the last month of her pregnancy.  Unfortunately, the doctor wasn’t aware of the problem. Luckily, Addison seems to be suffering no ill-effects from the calcification other than the low birth weight.
