I’m Jenni Elyse. I used to hate reading. In fact, I avoided it at all costs, and I can count the number of books I read in high school on one hand, possibly two. It wasn’t until I read the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling that I started to somewhat enjoy reading. The true catalyst for my love of reading, however, was the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer, which I first read in June 2007. Thanks to the wonderful world they created, I now enjoy reading more than any of my other hobbies. I enjoy reading books in the fantasy, romance, science fiction, historical fiction, mystery, thriller, and adventure genres the most. However, since I’m fairly new to reading, I’m sure other genres will pique my interest as well.

I also love to watch movies. I’m usually not a fan of book to movie adaptations, though. Somehow the movie is always disappointing. But, I’m a fan of most movies–drama, chick flick, action, comedy, romance, etc. I also adore movie scores and have ever since I was a child thanks to my oldest sister. Until I met my husband, I almost exclusively listened to movie scores and show-tunes.

I’ve been married to my husband Corey since March 1998. We don’t have any kids. But, we do have three cats. Their names are Cassinova Felix (Cassie), Tigris Euphrates (Tigger), and Daxius Cattius Kill-’em-us All-of-us (Dax).

I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, more commonly known as the Mormon church. My religious views influence many of my personal views, such as how I feel about particular books, movies, and their message (if they have one). However, I’m a fairly open-minded individual and usually make my own determinations rather than blindly follow those around me.

My Interests

I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies and TV, playing any type of game (especially anything related to Zelda and Mario), aimlessly surfing the Internet, crocheting, knitting, playing the piano, and hanging out with my husband, cats, and friends.

My favorite books are the Harry Potter series, the Twilight Saga, Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, the Mortal Instruments series, The Hunger Games trilogy, Anna and the French Kiss, Everneath, Graceling, Fire, Shiver, The Dark Divine, The Lost Saint, Dune, You Are Special, and Fox in Socks.

My favorite authors are (in alphabetical order) Brodi Ashton, Kristin Cashore, Cassandra Clare, Suzanne Collins, Bree Despain, Stephenie Meyer, Stephanie Perkins, Melanie Rawn, JK Rowling, and Maggie Stiefvater. I also enjoy reading Mary Higgins Clark’s books.

My favorite bands are Muse, Linkin Park, Green Day, System of a Down, Coldplay, The Cranberries, Angels & Airwaves, Blink-182, Fall Out Boy, Death Cab for Cutie, Lady Gaga, and New Kids on the Block. I also love Enya and Michael Crawford. My interest in the aforementioned bands has only been since I met Corey (other than NKOTB, Enya, and Michael Crawford). Before that, I only listened to movie scores, which I still love. My favorite composers are John Williams, James Horner, Hans Zimmer, and Danny Elfman.

My favorite TV shows are White Collar, Bones, Fringe, The Walking Dead, NCIS, and Futurama. There are a ton of other shows I’ll watch if I have the time, but the ones listed are the only shows I watch religiously.

My favorite actor is Ewan McGregor. Not only do I think he’s gorgeous, I also think he’s a wonderful actor and singer. I don’t really have a favorite actress; although, there are quite a few that I like. My all-time favorite movie is How to Train Your Dragon. I think it’s brilliant and nothing can touch it! I also love Down With Love, Moulin Rouge, the Indiana Jones series, the Star Wars Saga, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Clue, Lilo & Stitch, Galaxy Quest, and So I Married an Axe Murderer.
