A New Hobby

Last year, my niece Megan took up a new hobby.  It’s called amigurumi, which means crocheted doll in Japanese.  Since I know how to crochet, I decided I wanted to learn how to do amigurumi.  I decided to do an amineko, or crocheted cat, for my first project since the pattern is free, online, and I love cats.  It seemed like a good starting place.

I started my amigurumi on Sunday and finished him last night.  I’ve decided to name him Smokie since he’s gray and white and reminds me of a cat I had when I was a little girl.

I ordered an amigurumi pattern book from Amazon.  I’m really excited to make other things now.  I can’t wait to give away some of the animals/dolls I make to all the little kids in my life.

    Adorable! Meg made Jared a hippo and monkey— I’m so impressed! They seem to be harder than regular crochet.

    Oh my word! That is so cute! You’re amazing. You could totally throw one of those in with that blanket headed Benjamin’s way… jk. Don’t take me seriously, I’m just admiring.

    Jenni ~That is SO cute! What a great Christmas gift for my girls. Which book did you buy? Maybe that will be the crafty item I have been looking for , for them. They need something new.. ;)

    Alysa, I finally found the yarn for Benjamin’s blanket! I’m so excited because I ran out and I couldn’t find anymore. Now I can finish it! :) I don’t mind making him an amigurumi too. It just may come after the blanket.
