Dizzy C from Dizzy C’s Little Book Blog is taking part in this meme and I thought I’d join in because it’d be fun and a little bit challenging. Plus, it’s a great way to talk more about the books I’ve read.

Day 1: The Best Book I Read Last Year
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins was my favorite book that I read from last year. When I finished Mockingjay last year, I had very mixed emotions. I was happy, sad, and a little bit disappointed. Yet, I was actually quite satisfied with how the series ended. There were a few things I wished would’ve happened differently, but only because I didn’t want them to happen. I die expect to cry more than I did, but I only cried at one point during the story because I think I was in shock for most of the story and couldn’t cry until I let it sink in.
I did miss the interaction between Katniss and Peeta, even though their separation was pertinent to the story. And, even though I felt like the ending was a bit rushed, I was okay with it. I know a lot of readers were disappointed that it didn’t end on a happier note. I wasn’t. I felt like it ended the way it should’ve. It was true to the time and place of the story. And, it was true to the characters, especially Katniss.
Now that it’s been over a year since I read Mockingjay, I’ve had time to think about the story, the outcomes, and the feelings I felt. It isn’t my favorite book of the series, but I still feel like it’s a good ending to a very epic story and I can’t wait to read the trilogy again.
What about you? What is the best book you read last year?
Day 2: A Book that I’ve Read more than 3 Times
There are quite a few books that I’ve read more than three times. But, I’d say my favorite is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling. Before I read Deathly Hallows, Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite in the series. (It still is my favorite story; it’s just not my favorite book anymore.) I love all the elements that make up the story: Professor Lupin, Sirius Black, the Marauder’s Map and the Marauder’s themselves, the time turner, the dementors and patronus, Hogsmeade, the Knight Bus, Professor Snape, Ron and Hermione’s relationship, the Shrieking Shack, Scabbers, Buckbeak, the Firebolt, and even Malfoy.
When I first saw the movie, I was excited to have my favorite story of the series brought to life. Unfortunately, I was so disappointed. I feel like the movie doesn’t do this book justice. They cut out so many of the pivotal moments and focused on the wrong ones. But, while I am disappointed, I still love it because it does capture a few things that foreshadow future events–Ron and Hermione’s relationship being the main one.
What about you? What book have you read more than three times?

This is a fun idea for a meme. I probably won’t get to it on my blog but here are my answers.
Enclave by Ann Agurrie was my favorite book last year which is a bit of a cheat because it was an ARC so I got it early (it didn’t officially come out until this year)
Books I’ve read more that three times: Wicked Game by Jeri Smith-Ready, The first 2 Night Huntress books by Jeaniene Frost, the first 4 Sookie books, and Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward. I was obviously going through a vampire phase with those. lol
It’s okay if you “cheat.” If I were to answer this next year for this year, I’d use an ARC too.
My favorite book I read last year was also “Mocking Jay” by Suzanne Collins. The first book I remember reading more than 3 times is “Flowers in the Attic” by VC Andrews.
I still have yet to read Flowers in the Attic. I need to. I’ve heard so many good things about it.
This is going to be a fun month! I love those topics. I’ve read Prisoner of Azkaban a ton of times. It’s my favorite book of the series. I agree it has so many wonderful elements. I also like that it’s the first book where Harry Potter is not quite as childish. It’s a darker story, although not nearly as dark as the later books.
I agree. It really is the first book that Harry is more grown up. I think that’s another reason I love it so much, at least not that I think about it.
Hi Jenni Elyse,
I expect re-reading Harry Potter books must be interesting as there is so much to take in from just one reading.
Look forward to reading the rest of your 30 day Book Talk.

It really is a lot of fun to reread them, especially with all the books out now. There are so many foreshadowing elements that you just don’t see until you know what happens. I love how intricately Rowling wove the story together.
I think the only books I’ve read more than three times are also Harry Potter ones! I think we were required to with all the movies coming out!
Ha! I agree! Although with the later ones, I didn’t reread the books. I’m very OCD with Harry. If I reread one, I have to reread all of them and they have to be in order.
What a fun discussion! I’m glad you liked Mockingjay so much. It was my favorite of all three, mainly because of all the emotion I got out of it.
I haven’t read Harry Potter yet (I know, I’m crazy!), but I’m sorry that the Prisoner of Azkaban movie wasn’t as good as you had hoped. I liked the movie, but I think that when I read the book, I’ll be disappointed with it, too.
Yay! Someone who liked Mockingjay as much as I did! There are so many haters out there. I just don’t get it.
I love this idea. I think I’ll start one on my blog today!
It has been a lot of fun!
