2013 Classic Double Challenge

I’m signing up for yet another challenge this year. I participated in this challenge last year. I signed up for one pairing and I only read one of the books–Pride & Prejudice. I’m glad I got the classic done, but I’m disappointed that I didn’t get to the retelling. This year, I’ll do better!

The 2013 Classic Double Challenge is hosted by Melissa of One Librarian’s Book Reviews. The Classic Double Challenge encourages you to read one classic and a newer book that relates to the older one in some way. For example, Pride & Prejudice and Prom & Prejudice would qualify.

Part of the challenge is to review both books and then to compare them. This will hopefully spur some fun discussion.

There are different levels, like most challenges. I’ve decided to do the smallest again, meaning I’ll read two related books. I’ve wanted to read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and more particularly, I’ve wanted to read Frank Beddor’s series, The Looking Glass Wars, for a while. What better time to do it in than with this challenge! Two, possibly four, books knocked off my TBR list! Score!

  1. Yay!!!

  2. Oh snap! You just gave me what books I’ll be reading. I’m going to read Alice in Wonderland and Splintered. Huzzah! Thanks for the idea.

  3. That sounds like a really great challenge! Good luck :)

  4. Yeah! I’m glad you decided to join in again, but don’t feel pressured to finish it :) . I started The Looking Glass Wars series a while ago, but never finished it. It should be fun to compare it with the original.

  5. I’ve been seriously considering joining this challenge. You and joining it is pushing me even closer. :) I can’t wait to see what books you pick.
