“All You Need is Love”

As most of you know, I’ve been doing a lot of reading over the past year.  A lot more reading than I used to do anyway. ;) And, I’ve decided that I really like stories with romance in them.  The only problem is that a lot of romance novels are full of graphic sex.

I don’t mind sex in books (e.g. Breaking Dawn, Dragon Prince, The Star Scroll, The Other Boleyn Girl, Body of Evidence) as long as it’s not graphic.  With romance novels, more particularly paranormal romance or fantasy romance, I’ve had a hard time knowing which books contain explicit scenes.  Over the last couple of months, I’ve started but not finished two books because they were a little too graphic for my taste, and the stories seemed to center around the sex rather than an actual story. :?

If you encounter an explicit scene that’s too graphic for your taste, what do you do?  Do you continue to read the book and skip over the explicit scenes? Or, do you stop reading the book all together?

For those of you who have read all types of romance novels, how do you know if a book is part of the erotic romance genre, especially when the book isn’t marketed as part of that genre? A few of my friends have told me to read online reviews, but the reviews don’t always say anything about how graphic the content is as everyone has different levels of what they think is too graphic.
