Life has been interesting for the past few months. I’ve been struggling with a lot of things. A lot of times, I’ve been on the verge of tears and I’m not always sure why. Sometimes, I can figure out what’s going on and other times, it’s like my emotions have run a muck. However, I’ve noticed if I stay busy whether it’s working, cleaning, reading, or watching TV, I do a little better.
I don’t want this post to be depressing, so I’ve decided to list a few things I started to do over the past couple of weeks that have helped me just in case you’re in the same boat I’m in.
- I’ve read my scriptures every night, even when I’m tired.
- I’ve said my prayers each night. (This has been a huge struggle since getting married because my personal prayers are so similar to our family prayers.)
- I’ve gone to church each week for the past couple of weeks. (This has been a struggle since January.)
- I’ve spent time with Corey as much as I can.
- I’ve talked to friends or family when I need someone to talk to.
- I’ve spent time with friends.
- I’ve read various talks by the General Authorities.
- I watched an old fireside with President Hinckley as the speaker.
- I try not to dwell on my problems or issues. (This has always been a struggle for me.)
I’m really excited for General Conference this weekend. I love listening to the talks by the General Authorities. I always feel so edified and at peace during Conference weekend.
On my Facebook profile, I have an application that gives me a quote by President Hinckley every couple of days. For the past few days, the following quote has been displaying:
“It isn’t as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don’t worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers.”
It’s amazing that when we need help the most, there’s always something (scripture, quotes, friends, etc.) around to help us through our rough times just like in the Footprints poem. I guess we just need to focus on those positive times and remember when life gets tough, the light will always come.
Yesterday was Peta Day and Corey and I decided to join a Facebook group event to protest the day in our own little way. ;) (It was mostly for fun and a joke.) The event was called, “Eat a Tasty Animal for Peta Day.”
