“Footprints”

One of my favorite poems is “Footprints.” When I was younger, I had a copy of this poem hanging up in my bedroom. Whenever I had a bad day, I’d read it. This poem has been a source of strength throughout my life, so I wanted to post it on my blog.

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. “Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.”

The Lord replied. “My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

President James E. Faust

President James E. FaustI wanted to post something regarding President Faust’s death this morning. However, I really don’t know what to say because I don’t feel like I’m all that articulate or “deep” when it comes to these types of things.

His death was kind of a shock to me because I didn’t know he was sick, other than him having a hard time with his mobility in the last few years. One of my co-workers Alan told me that the speaker at a CES Fireside he attended this weekend mentioned President Faust had been bed-ridden for the last couple of weeks.

I can’t help feeling a sense of loss because I enjoyed listening to his talks during General Conference. However, at the same time, I do feel comforted because I know he’s in a better place and surrounded by all his loved ones.

The Deseret News has a couple of articles about him, which you can read here and here.

The Bourne Ultimatum

Bourne Ultimatum PosterCorey was getting stir crazy because he hadn’t left the house since his surgery so we went to see The Bourne Ultimatum last night. We really enjoyed the movie. But, then again, we enjoyed the other two as well. I definitely recommend it.

The music in all three movies is just awesome! I love the theme and that “Extreme Ways” by Moby is played during every ending credits. (For those of you who know I’m not musically inclined, other than movie scores, it’s a big deal for me to know not only the name of the song, but the artist too.)

The fight and car chase sequences in each of the movies are unbelievable. I love how crisp and “choppy” the fight scenes feel. It just adds to the feeling that Jason knows what he’s doing, even if he doesn’t know why.

The entire concept of the Bourne films is so fascinating. The movies get me thinking that any of this could and may be possible. They’re very realistic in a fictional way. ;)

PS–By the fact that we went to a movie last night, it’s safe for you to assume that Corey’s doing better. He still has some residual surgery pains, but he seems a lot better than he did before the surgery.

Eclipse Quotes of the Day

This was a “main” page, but now that Eclipse is here I thought I’d post it as a regular post. My theories were so wrong with most of the quotes. I had no idea how they’d play into the story.

I didn’t expect Eclipse to happen the way it did. But, I did end up loving it.  At this point, if the tables were turned, I have no idea how I would’ve reacted. I think I would’ve been very upset. I just have to keep telling myself that it’s just a book. I guess it doesn’t matter since it turned out okay.

The “Eclipse” is Drawing Near

Only 10 hours until Eclipse is released! :D I’m so excited and anxious at the same time! I don’t think I’ve ever been so anxious for a book. Yes, I was excited to find out what happens and worried that Ron would die in Deathly Hallows, but I feel there’s so much more at stake in Eclipse. (I don’t know how to explain it as Harry’s story has been a part of my life for so long and I was just as excited. I guess I just wasn’t as anxious.) Will Bella settle for second best or will she hold on to true love? Will she be able to remain friends with her best friend and still remain with her true love, even though her best friend and true love are mortal enemies? It’s so complex and aggravating. :x

When I finished reading Twilight, I had a feeling of euphoria. I’m reading it again right now; I got started a little late with Corey’s surgery and last week’s work week being so hectic. I love it just as much or more than I did the first time. The book’s so intoxicating and just draws you in.

Because of my feeling of euphoria the first time I read Twilight, I rushed to read New Moon. And … bam! My euphoria ended in an instant. I was so traumatized because of the conflict in New Moon. I do realize books need conflict.  Otherwise, they’d be boring.  I’ve come to grips with most of the conflict in New Moon, but I’m now anxiously awaiting to find out what happens in Eclipse because there’s only one way I can see for the story to end so my feeling of euphoria can come back

Seriously, if you’ve never read these books, read them! You’ll be glad you did.
